The name of the valley has its origin in the ‘laveggi’, fire-proof cooking pots that have been carved out of soapstone. than 600 inhabitants it is the least populated one. Here nature presents itself in multiple forms and in a spectrum of varied colours: charming valley floors, crystal clear streams and waterfalls, green and rocky mountain slopes, wild and inviting valleys, easy to reach summits and magnificent mountains with splendid panoramic views. Mogno boasts a church designed by the architect Mario Botta, and Peccia prides itself on its marble quarry with its marble manufacturing firm Cristallina SA. and the Sculpture School. From Locarno the Lavizzara valley can easily be reached by car in just over thirty minutes and there are also public bus connections. Tourists can choose to stay in hotels, guest houses and mountain chalets. There are many possibilities for excursions and for visiting places of interest.
With this venture a new and powerful cultural sphere with great appeal and attraction will develop.
