Peccia – the village of marble and sculpture. Right at the very head of the upper Maggia valley there has been an active sculpture school since 1984. Its development and its success are proof that, with perseverance and careful planning, coupled with the professionalism of its founders and the school’s tutors, Peccia with its sculpture school is today well known, not only in the Ticino, but far beyond the boundaries of this canton and of Switzerland. The project of the Centro Internazionale di Scultura is a result of years of experience, hard work, and cultural and sculptural achievements. It will be given added impetus through the collaboration with already existing institutions of culture and art in the Ticino. Of great importance are: The Academy of Architecture in Mendrisio and the University of Lugano as well as various museums of modern and classical works of art, ethnology and archaeology. It is good news, this international centre for sculpture. It will enrich the already existing cultural scene and generate economic dynamics that must not be underestimated. This will be a sought-after international hub of culture with a promising future for sculpture and three-dimensional design. Armando Losa supports the project of the Centro Internazionale di Scultura.
